Keep that Google traffic coming

I used to worry a lot about my squidoo lenses not being indexed in Google or just not doing very well traffic wise. No doubt, I still will occasionally but I’m learning not to panic so much any more.

I’ve learnt that Google will pick up a Squidoo Lens at some point providing that:

  1. Regular good updates are made.
  2. Big and dramatic improvements will usually ensure the traffic to that lens will improve a lot.

If you worry too much about one thing, then you can find yourself not being able to keep up with any other important jobs you may have on Squidoo.

Of course, it’s up to you to keep that Google traffic coming. I’ve had lenses pick up really well but soon drop off again because I’ve not made any good updates.

I think I will have to take some my own advice from my newest lens in order to try and improve some of my poorest lenses.

I’ve had some terrific feedback on there which I’m very grateful for! I hope my second lens in the series will also do well.

Checking my backlinks

I’ve been checking my backlinks to some of my lenses and they’re pretty good  though I know I need a lot more from other domains. However, I’m wondering why a number of backlinks have not yet been picked up by Google. These backlinks are on forums, websites and webrings. Could it be that they are no-follow? Or does that not matter for backlinks?

My blog commenting has slowed down a bit at the moment. I’m trying to figure out the best search terms to use to find blogs for some of my lens subjects. I might just give publishing a lens targeted towards Squidoo lensmasters a rest and concentrate on subjects that are useful for the entire internet. Although, luckily, the subjects of some of my squidoo targeted lenses can be useful for all web-users and not just for lensmasters.

Although my article for Mooncup is not showing up as a backlink yet I’m receiving traffic from it. This makes my Mooncup lens my second highest ranked lens below Pernicious Anaemia. Using a saying for my What does not destroy me lens has been a good idea as this lens is my 3rd ranking lens.

I might just use this idea again :)

Now, I need to get down and finish this book editing as I’ve got so many other jobs I should be doing. I also need to interact more on some of the social networking sites I’ve joined as the traffic from those sites are poor.
